Sacramento Region First 28 day Residential Program and Intense Outpatient  (IOP) Addiction Recovery Program Resource Information

The rehab facilities listed below have been used by our members in the past and have generally worked with us on pricing and availability. Please understand that all rehab facilities are for-profit businesses so pricing is subject to change and is negotiable. At times the process of choosing and entering a rehab program can be daunting and we highly recommend using some of the peer support resources available to you for the process.

Here is a list of peers in the Sacramento area that have had experience with placing people into rehab programs and have successfully navigated the process to find an available bed, worked with insurances, arranged financing when the program was not covered by insurance, advised on the FMLA process/requirements and arranged for transportation to and from the facility. As with all peer support issues, this process is completely confidential should you choose to use one of the specialists listed below. If you would like to use a different peer to help navigate this process, you are more than welcome to do so. If the peer you choose has difficulty in guiding you through the process, they are more than welcome to contact a specialist for assistance without ever having the need to divulge the name of the individual seeking assistance.

Sacramento Region First 28 day Residential Program and Intense Outpatient  (IOP) Addiction Recovery Program Resource Information
Below is a list of rehab facilities and outpatient programs that we’ve used in the past along with their contact information.

Calvary Addiction Recovery Center

(602) 279-1468

Phoenix, Arizona

Some of our members have also attended the Calvary program in Phoenix, Arizona. This program is similar to the other 28 day residential treatment programs with one exception. This is a self-admit lockdown (you can’t AMA once you’re in) facility. In some circumstances, people need a lockdown facility to help ensure success and this one has worked in the past for some of our members.

Mountain Vista Farms (privately owned)

(800) 300-6716

Glen Ellen, CA (in the hills between the Sonoma Valley and the Napa Valley)

Mountain Vista Farms is one of the few remaining privately owned (mom-and-pop) treatment facilities in our area. Although we have sent people to this facility, we are not as familiar with their program as those listed above. Our biggest referral for this program comes from the San Francisco Police and Fire Departments who almost exclusively send their personnel to this facility for First Responder treatment. This is not a First Responder specific program but generally has Police and Firefighters at the facility in some stage of their recovery year-round.

Cedar Point Residential Rehab (owned by Sprouts Health Group)

This program is located in Sacramento and has a fairly new First Responder specific component to the program. The recovery model integrates some PTSD education along with First Responder specific discussion groups into a traditional 28 day residential recovery program and follows up with a local IOP program.

John Becker (215) 833-1572

Azure Acres Residential Rehab (owned by Arcadia)

(707) 284-0361

Sebastopol, Ca

Duffy’s Residential Rehab (owned by Arcadia)

(707) 942-6888

Calistoga, Ca

Bayside Marin residential rehab (owned by Arcadia)

Bayside is a beautiful, high-end residential treatment program located in the hills of San Rafael overlooking the San Francisco Bay. This program integrates PTSD (trauma) treatment into their addiction recovery program. Although this facility is located in a beautiful setting, it is also extremely expensive compared to the other facilities we have used. The upside is that they do work closely with insurance companies and it would be definitely worth your while to call the specialist listed above and see what kind of coverage you may have.

Acadia Healthcare Systems

Acadia Healthcare Systems is the nation’s largest operator of residential recovery programs. Arcadia has placement specialists to assist you in finding the right facility for your needs and works with your insurance coverage to get as much, if not all, of your treatment covered.

Arcadia has two placement specialists dedicated to working with First Responders and Military. Both of these specialists are familiar with the First Responder culture and are intimately familiar with facilities that integrate PTSD education and treatment into the addiction recovery process.

Josh Mantz (408) 728-5256 (First Responder and Military Placement Specialist)

Matt Schembari (415) 450-9214 (First Responder and Military Placement Specialist)

Three of the residential facilities listed below are owned and operated by Arcadia Health Systems. Placement into all of these facilities can be done by contacting the two placement specialists listed above. We have also contacted Duffy’s and Azure Acres in the past directly with success.

Intense outpatient programs (IOP’s) in the Sacramento area.

Kaiser Chemical Dependency Services- Vacaville a catchy title…

(707) 624-2830

1 Quality Drive, Second Floor South Vacavillle, CA 95688

If you feel you have an addiction issue, it doesn’t matter whether you utilize one of the specialists listed above, a trusted peer or navigate this process on your own, just reach out and get the help you need. I can assure you that if you come forward with the problem and ask for help your job will not be in jeopardy; the same cannot be said if you come to work intoxicated or you receive a DUI. We will still do everything in our power to get you the help that you need but pending discipline makes the process that much harder so if you have a problem deal with it before it gets to that point. As a reminder, there are two First Responder support group meetings held weekly in the Sacramento area. Times and locations are listed at the top of the Firestrong resource page.

Some people are able to deal with their addictions through local outpatient programs that are generally attended multiple days a week with a step down recovery process. Clients generally begin the program attending up to five days a week for several hours a day and gradually step down to fewer days a week and fewer hours a day as they progress through their recovery program. It is generally recommended that clients returning from 28 day residential programs participate in a local IOP program following their discharge. It has been proven that there is a much higher success factor for sustained recovery when IOP’s and active participation in Alcoholics Anonymous are incorporated into the lifelong recovery process from addiction.

Azure Acres Intense Outpatient Program

2641 Cottage Way #8, Sacramento, CA 95825

Kathleen Maro (916) 488-8123

Azure Acres IOP in Sacramento is a standalone program that can be attended solely as an IOP for primary treatment or will work in conjunction with the 28 day program to provide follow-up treatment to aid in a successful and sustainable recovery program.

Cedar Point intense outpatient program (owned by Sprouts Health Group)

John Becker (215) 833-1572

Cedar Point IOP in Sacramento is a standalone program that can be attended solely as an IOP for primary treatment or will work in conjunction with its own 28 day program to provide follow-up treatment to aid in a successful and sustainable recovery program.

Kaiser Permanente

Kaiser’s addiction recovery program can be extremely difficult to navigate if you are in need of a 28 day residential program. They often require that you attempt the outpatient program and are unsuccessful before they will entertain the idea of sending you to a residential inpatient program. That being said, there are circumstances in which medical evaluations have been performed and clearance has been given to proceed directly to inpatient programs. The good news is that for those individuals that are able to participate in an IOP, Kaiser has a very successful and generally well-respected program. Below is a list of the local Kaiser chemical dependency recovery program (CDRP) times and locations. CDRP is what Kaiser calls their intense outpatient program. Generally you will enter this program by going to the walk-in facility located on Watt Avenue. Once you have completed that process, depending on your geographical location, you will either continue with your treatment at the Watt Avenue facility or you will be referred to the South Sacramento or Folsom locations.
